W.H.I.P.: A Ministry Movement Guided By Prayer
1. Who was the Roman emperor who ordered the census requiring Mary and Joseph to travel to Bethlehem?
Answer: Caesar Augustus
Luke 2:1-5
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
2. What prophet foretold that the Messiah would be born to a virgin?
Answer: Isaiah
Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
3. Name the prophet who declared the Savior would be born in Bethlehem?
Answer: Micah
Micah 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
4. Why was it necessary for Jesus to be born in a stable manger?
Answer: The scriptures tell us that there was no room in the inn.
Luke 2:7
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
I think it was necessary for Jesus to be born in a stable to show us the humility of Christ and to let us know that no matter what circumstance we are in we can always rise above it.
